Tour Canceled!
I’m disappointed to announce that RIOT the “Thundersteel
Reunion” line up will not be supporting HAMMERFALL's upcoming
"European Outbreak 2011" tour due to Tony's emergency oral
surgery.
A routine dental checkup discovered a deeply infected root canal
requiring removal of the tooth and portion of the infected bone
tissue. Also performed was a bone graft with healthy bone from the
surrounding area of the mouth to help replace the infected bone tissue
that was removed.
Tony was put on a liquid diet and limited to bed rest for several
days, but because of the location of the surgery, singing was out of
the question for four weeks and recovery will take several months. The
band discussed all the options possible but in the end has to cancel
the tour with Hammerfall as previously scheduled. Mark and the entire
“Reunion” line up would like to apologize to the Fan’s, you’ve
been waiting for a very long time to get a chance to see this line up
near you and it seamed like now was the time, but unfortunately
Tony's heath is more important to assure a strong vocal recovery. Mark
would also like to apologize to the label Steamhammer/SPV
and thank them for supporting this
tough decision to cancel the tour.
Finally Mark and rest of the “REUNION” line up would
like to thank HAMMERFALL who have been extremely generous in offering
a chance to tour Europe with a great bunch of guys, Mark was looking
forward to this tour but be assured that more dates will be announced
in the future. However this will not have any effect on plans to
perform in Japan in support of 'Immortal
Soul' in 2012.

Cover Reveled
- Release Date for the US Set!
Here's what the new RIOT "Thundersteel Reunion Line Up"
album cover looks like. The US & Canada release date has been
announced, it will be on November 22nd, 2011 and is on Steamhammer/SPV
records. Only in Japan is the new album on Marquee/Avalon
and as reported here will be released on Oct. 21st 2011. Scandinavia
will be the first to receive Immortal
Soul on Oct. 26th then October 28 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The rest of Europe gets it on Oct. 31th 2011

Mark is working on finalizing (mix down) the
new record "Immortal Soul" and is sounding great! Also with the
"Reunion" line up in place they have signed with Steamhammer/SPV in all
the territories except in Japan where Avalon
Marquee will be the label
for the new album. "Immortal
Soul" is set to be released in October (Japan) with the
second release October 28 in Germany and October 31st the rest of Europe.
Mark's ready to get back to Europe with this
line up after performing a few spot dates in 2009. This will also give
the fans what they have been asking and waiting for, a REAL tour as it
has just been announced that RIOT the Thundersteel "Reunion"

Here we go again!
If the record is due out on October 19th in Japan (as stated on RIOT's
"OFFICIAL" FB page) (link), that means the record has to be mixed
down and delivered to the label by end of August or first of September
to be ready by October release! Unless its not going to be
released in October but this second source (click
Here) has confirmed that the record WILL be out in October!
Also a second confirmation about the mix down comes from Bruno's post
with Flyntz holding his axe stating on the RIOT "OFFICIAL"

Still Recording
Hope everyone had a safe and enjoying holiday
season. Got off the phone with Mark the other day, asked him how
things are going with the new record and he replied. ''Things
are moving forward and the band sounds great, we have four songs just
about done. I just have to finish a few leads and maybe a few backing
vocal tracks but for the most part there done and sound great! Now we
just have to get together again and record the rest of the tunes here
in New York. We've been getting a lot of interest for the new
record and plan on touring when it comes out. Due to all the snow
here on the east cost things have been set back some but the album
will come out this year, hopefully by the summer time" I
suggested to Mark they release the four tracks as an EP seeing its
been sometime that RIOT has released one. This would make a big buzz in the music scene
for the band and might be able to do a few festivals in support of it.
Then return to the states and work on a full length 10 song album for
2012. It was just a suggestion!

Return to the studio
After allowing time for his leg to
heal, Mark flew down to San Antonio these past few weeks and went to
work with the "Reunion" line up in writing more tunes. Mark
has returned to New York and will get into the studio with Flyntz ASAP
with more vocals tracks to follow as well. The new Thundersteel
"Reunion" album should hit stores in the spring of 2011 with
tour dates to be posted as well.

Tracks with Vocals
Mark has had to put things on
hold, he fell down a few weeks back and twisted his leg bad enough
where he had to go to the doctor. Nothing is broken but he has had to
stay in bed for most of the day's. Mark
replied: It sucks this happen with me because as reported we are
moving forward with Tony Moore on vocals, he came up and burned the
four tracks we had ready for him and there's a lot more great tones to
choose from! I can't wait to get going again as soon as possible. Tony
sounds great! But
it looks like the album at this time will most likely see the light of
day in 2011. He did mention that they did record the shows in Japan,
Sweden and Spain on video, so maybe look for a some kind of DVD in the
future. The "REUNION"
line up continues to move forward.

Studio Album & Tirelli News
Mark continues to move forward in getting the new
tunes finished, basic rhythm tracks are done. Guitar
tracks are being worked on and soon the vocal tracks will start. The "REUNION"
line up will make an official statement and will disclose who's back on vocals for
this studio album
shortly and with full details of what's in the future for them and the new
album.
Mike Tirelli will be putting together a Gastric Cancer Society benefit
on July 18th 2010 in memory of Ronnie James Dio. Tirelli will be
performing many hits from Dio with his cover band and other well known
artist will be performing at this benefit too. The event will be held at
Mulcahy's and is located at 1702 Middle Country Road,
Centereach, NY

Also Mike is finishing up on a new Messiahs Kiss album that has drawn
interest from producer Andy Sneap an English record producer,
recording engineer, mixer, guitarist, and songwriter. He is best known
for producing and mixing many acclaimed heavy metal albums. Sneap
received a Swedish Grammy for his work on Opeth's Deliverance album,
as well as US Grammy nominations for his work on Killswitch Engage's
The End of Heartache and Megadeth's Endgame. Look for a Messiahs Kiss
album and show dates in 2011

Recording Info Update
Mark continues to move forward in the arrangement of the new songs and
is set to start recording them in the weeks and months to come, he's goal as reported
in a few interviews is to have the new album mostly done by October
shows in Japan with a tentatively scheduled release for
the end the year.

Drum Sole
So what's been happening with Frank G wile the "REUNION" is
going on? Until the reunion has taken its course
the rest of the members are doing other projects including Frank's
Drum Clinic with John Macaluso. At the beginning
of March they held their fist drum showcase and was a huge
success with many
turning out for this event. You can check out a video clip of Frank as
he assaults the drums one more time, to view this video click here

Maybe some of you don't know but Frank has also been working on his
master degree in music and is now actually composing. "My
pieces are being played and recorded by a full orchestra on the stage
at Queens College, " Frank replies. "At the
moment I'm orchestrating a Finnish folk tune for an orchestral interpretation
and writing my own original compositions for mixed ensembles and
getting ready to record some of them at the college's recording
studio. I'm having a blast" states Frank.
Frank and the rest of the Virgin
Steel team will be performing On May 30th out on Long Island at
FRANK CARIOLA'S SUNDANCE located at: 621 Route 25A Rocky Point, Long

& the original Thundersteel demo
Just added to the 1985 NARITA project bio is LIAR & the original
Thundersteel song. Thundersteel features on vocals San Antonio's favored
Steve Cooper,
his high pitch metal voice dominates this song along with the thunder
of Dave McClain's pounding feet on the
bass drums. This gave a new taste of metal in the mid 80`s that was a
success with many fans. Liar is more of a melodic song with keyboards
and blazing riffs that where more friendly to radio but never the less
a strong song that could have seen its way to a RIOT album. To listen

Reunion News
So far, so good, people. We've just concluded our
first writing session as a band in almost 20 years and we're happy to
say that it was a very productive get-together. After exchanging
musical ideas long distance for the past few months, Mark and Mike
recently joined Don and Bobby down in San Antonio, Texas where many
RIOT songs have been written over the course of the last quarter
century, including much of 'The Privilege of Power.' Getting together
in the same room was a lot like getting back on the bike - it felt
very natural and the chemistry between us was back in an instant.
"The material that Bobby and I have been writing sounds like the
follow-up to 'Thundersteel' and TPOP; it's like we never missed a
beat!", states Don. "The new stuff is in the same vein
except even more intense! I describe it as "'Thundersteel' on
crack!."
Initially, we were hoping to come up with 6 or 7 tunes and ended up
with over a dozen really strong song ideas we'll be developing beyond
the demo stage. The next step is for Tony and Mark to work on melodies
and lyrics. Says Tony: "Don, Bobby, Mark and Mike have sent me
some incredibly rich and challenging instrumentals, and while I'm
practicing day and night to rebuild 'the Voice of Steel', I'm also
looking deep inside to find stories that will do justice to this
inspiring new music. I'll tell you this much - right now it sounds
like what you would expect if the five of us had kept progressing
together the whole time. It's intense music and promises to be a tour
de force that runs the whole gamut of what Metal can do. I've set
expectations pretty high, but this band has never settled for less. I
can't wait to share the new songs with our true fans who've waited as
long as we have for this to happen."
Mark had this to say: "I'm definitely having fun putting myself
back into the type of mindset we were in as a band when we created
'Thundersteel' and 'The Privilege of Power.' The five of us working
together - Don's crazy riffs, Bobby's insane drumming, Tony's soaring
vocals, and having the luxury of Mike's second guitar this time around
- makes for a unique collaboration."
We are all excited about going into the studio to record this album,
which will get under way over the summer. We've had the video camera
running throughout this writing session and will get some footage up
soon. Until then we thought it would be cool to start off our YouTube
channel OfficialRiotNYCTV with a rare live clip of the song 'Fight Or
Fall.' This footage was recorded in Tokyo, Japan on the 'Thundersteel'
tour in 1989. It was our first time there and is a great memory for
all of us.

Last but not least and back to the present - we finally have a
confirmed date and venue for our pre-Sweden Rock warm-up show! RIOT
will be kicking out the jams at the Scout Bar, Ste 101, 19314 US
Highway 281 in San Antonio on Tuesday, June 2. Check the Scout Bar
website for club info. We couldn't be more thrilled to be able to get
out in front of our fans in what has long been our second home: San
Antonio, Rock City! So mark your calendars, spread the word, and c'mon
down and help give us a proper send off! We'll see you there!

News
UPDATE - Mike Tirelli
After talking with Mike over the phone, he sounds really good and is
in great spirits. He is a bit week and gets tired easy while he is
adjusting to his new life style but his stomach is behaving normal.
The doctors are pleased with the results so far. He will be starting
nine more weeks of chemo this Thursday and should be done sometime
around July/August. He will have to go back for check ups for another
year or so but overall, he is very upbeat and optimistic about it all.
"Through it all Mike has shown what a true fighter he is reports Frank Gilchriest,
he gets knocked down but he gets back up and keeps fighting" So for
the next few months indeed keep the kind words coming in the
"SHOUT BOX" as he is reading them from all of you and he
sends his thanks.
Our prayers here at the RIOT camp go out to our brother in
Christ.

Tirelli`s Operation
I am very happy to inform all of
you that Mike Tirelli`s operation for stomach cancer was a success! After undergoing three months of chemotherapy treatment Mike
under went a major sugary of the stomach a few days ago. The doctors
where very pleased with the chemotherapy and had caught the disease in
time before damage was done to the stomach area thus having not to
repair as much as first thought.
Mike is now recovering nicely and is in very high spirits, he’s expected
to be leaving the hospital in about a week. He would like to thank all
of your support and prayers in his recovery and can’t wait to get
back on the stage again soon.

as Burning Starr, Riot, Messiah's Kiss, Holy Mother, Lastlix, Zillion, just to name a few.
In the fall of 2008 he was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness (Stomach
Cancer) and has been under going treatment for this illness. I just got off the phone with him today and he is
doing great and sounds very well, all the treatments have been a huge success in eradicating this disease. In March of
this year he will under go one last treatment that includes a surgery of the stomach.
With these types of treatments in place Tirelli has accrued substantial medical
bills fighting this battle. We would appreciate the support of friends in helping out one of our own with this
worthy cause.

Centereach, NY. Doors open at 3:00PM-until??.
